There is such thing as beauty sleep

There is such a thing as beauty sleep.

It’s no secret that I love my sleep but over the years I have noticed I can’t pull the same tricks in my thirties that I could get away with in my twenties. I can’t wear makeup to bed, I can’t skip my skin care routine (you can find my full skin care routine here) and heaven forbid I sleep on a regular pillowcase or I will absolutely wake up looking like villain in a movie.

So here are some things I have found to help with beauty sleep.

My favorite pillow case.

This is no joke, I pack this everywhere we go. This pillowcase has seen over 10 countries and lots of the United States. It helps not only with preventing any breakouts, my hair texture but also I just get plain weirded out about putting my face on a pillowcase that a stranger has used. You can find the exact black silk one I use here.

Probably the most instant overnight beauty sleep success I ever see are a direct result of me wearing these

Eye pads.

Did you know that side sleepers (yeah that’s me) not only have one side of their face that’s fuller from not being squished all night but also have lovely crinkly skin around your eyes. Ok don’t believe me, try placing your hand under one side of your face and then leaning into it…now go look in the mirror. It’s not good.

I spent years and lots of dollars on eye cream until I realized these wrinkles around my eyes weren’t really wrinkles, they were a result of how I slept, (don’t get it twisted, I still need eye cream, I was born in the eighties).

So I tried to sleep like a mummy and not move all night. The next morning instead of wrinkles around my eyes I had bags big enough to make TSA shiver in their boots. Dark circles party of 1 over here. I traded one problem for another.

Then I found these babies. I simply put these on after I do my normal skin care routine and head to sleepy town. It has worked like a charm and has saved me thousands in Botox!

I also recently started using a silicone neck pad because it appeared my neck was starting to wrinkle as a result of my side sleeping as well (or I’m delusional about aging) and I’m determined to make that disappear as well. Verdict is still out on the neck pad but if it works as well as the eye pads my poor husband will have to deal with an interesting looking wife at bedtime!

Let me know if you try any of these hacks out and if they work for you!

Love,
