Lighting Matters
As a makeup artist and someone who has built not one but two businesses online I understand the importance of lighting and audio in the online space. I also understand that not everyone wants to build a business, some just want really amazing lighting for makeup and or selfies.
And that I am living for….
So let’s spill the tea on my makeup room, lighting, organizing, some things I love and some things I would change.
First let’s talk ring lights. Not all are created equal.
This is the one I use and love. It dims, has a warm and cool ring light option and is portable! You can snag it here.
My vanity mirror.
The most pricey of all but totally worth it in my opinion. I feel like a legit movie star. Not to mention it has an outlet and a usb dock, dimmable bulbs (I have clear) and can be mounted on the wall or set on a desk like shown.

No joke I do not travel without this. Have you ever met a woman trying to get ready in a hotel room with crap lighting and no mirror. It isn’t pretty. This mirror not only is amazing to do makeup in, it also comes with a magnetic phone holder. So if you are someone who films videos or maybe watches or listens to something while you get ready it’s perfect. I will film all my videos with just my Riki Mirror when I’m traveling. My chair is also from Impressions Vanity. LOVE, LOVE, LOVE it! Super comfy, great height for a desk and cute! The only thing is, it’s white. While I love the look of clean white, I also understand that it gets messy easy and this chair is no different. Invest in cleaning products and wipe this guy down once a week to avoid foundation stains (like I have) on the chair.
IKEA FOR THE WIN!
This is amazing for organizing all my makeup. As a makeup artist I have LOTS of makeup and I love these drawers for keeping it all organized. I also have dividers and lipstick holders I bought from the Container Store to keep my drawers organized as well. I have listed my favorites for Ikea here.
What I don’t love?
My desk and hair product situation. We are in the process of moving and in our new house I will buy this! Yes, pain the you know what to put together but totally worth it.

Lastly, a full length mirror is a must.
I’m 5’8” and let’s be honest most mirrors don’t show the full outfit so I love a full length mirror to get the full affect. Some days that outfit is leggings and tennis shoes but nonetheless the mirror is important!
